The influence of my culture is huge. I have an old soul and enjoy mixing songs from when I was young growing up in the Bronx. As a child, in every area I entered a different genre of music was played.
When I entered a bodega I heard bachata, merengue, and salsa. I step outside the street and hear hip-hop and rap being played on the stoop. I go visit my mom in the beauty parlor and hear ballads (Canciones Romanticas) and hear people singing along terribly, but having an amazing time. The way I honor my culture with music is through nostalgia. I’m going to play that song you heard constantly back in the day and give you that memory again.
When asked how I feel now that Latin music has hit the mainstream, all I can say is POR FIN! (Finally!). I feel people have missed out on a lot of amazing music from the late 90s and 2000s.
The demand is only going to increase from here on out and I can’t wait to spin them live and sing along to the tracks. My job now is to play those old-school songs and say “Hey this was fire back in the day and still is now.”
My journey began in 2016, spinning at small birthday parties and local bars in Brooklyn. It was humble, but it taught me how to read a room and connect with people. Over the years, I’ve refined my craft, evolving from those intimate gatherings to curating soundscapes for major private events, high-end galas, fashion shows, and spirit brand pop-ups.
The list goes on, but the mission remains the same. I take my business seriously—operating as an officially registered Sole Proprietor in NYC—but I never lose that initial spark of joy. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I’m even more excited for what’s next. I am only getting better.
